Smart Drip Irrigation for Large-Scale Avocado Estate

Project Overview

Agrifity designed and implemented a smart drip irrigation system to optimize water use efficiency, improve crop uniformity, and reduce operational costs across a high-value avocado estate.

The estate previously relied on manual irrigation scheduling, which led to uneven watering, excessive pump runtime, and inconsistent soil moisture levels across blocks.

Our objective was to transition the farm into a fully monitored, data-driven irrigation system using IoT-based soil sensing, automated irrigation control, and cloud-based performance tracking.

Project Scope & System Installed

The Agrifity team implemented:

• Multi-zone smart drip irrigation automation
• IoT soil moisture and temperature sensors (installed per irrigation block)
• Flow and pressure monitoring sensors for leak detection
• Centralized smart irrigation controller
• Cloud-based dashboard for real-time monitoring
• Automated fertigation integration
• Borehole pump protection system

Each irrigation block was calibrated based on soil type, slope, and crop maturity stage.

Project Results

✔ 38% reduction in water usage
✔ 27% reduction in electricity consumption
✔ Improved irrigation uniformity across 42 hectares
✔ Early leak detection prevented major pipe failure
✔ Reduced manual supervision by 60%
✔ Improved fruit sizing consistency
